Here Are All The New Features Coming With the Launch of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 in The Coming Months
Apple introduced various new features back when iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 were introduced at the company’s WDC event last year. However, many of these features were still in the development phase and needed work before they could be rolled out to the public. For instance, the Universal Control feature is a highly demanded feature that still did not arrive for the general public, even months after iOS 15 was released to the general public. However, iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 will be the update that users should be most looking forward to. If you are not familiar, we have compiled a list of features coming with iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 at launch in the next few weeks.
Use Face ID With Mask On
You will have the option available to use Face ID with a mask on. The feature will “recognize the unique features around the eye” for authentication purposes. You will have to rescan your phase to use Face ID with a mask on. However, the feature will support only the iPhone 12 series and the new latest iPhone 13 series.
37 New Emojis
iOS 15.4 will bring 37 new emojis to the mix with 75 skin tone additions with Emoji 14. Altogether, this results in a total of 112 characters. New faces include melting face, saluting face, face with diagonal mouth, dotted line face, and much more.
120Hz ProMotion Support For Third-Party Apps
iOS 15.4 will add support for Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display for third-party apps. Up until now, most third-party apps on the new iPhone 13 Pro models were restricted to 60Hz but this will change with iOS 15.4. Third-party developers will have to update their respective apps with support for Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display.
Custom Email Domains With iCloud Mail
The new custom email domain is available for iCloud+, adding the ability to set up a custom domain with iCloud Mail on your iPhone.
EU Residents Can Add Vaccine Certificates to Wallet App
iOS 15.4 update will allow residents in the European Union to add their vaccine certificates directly in the health as well as the Wallet app. Users can simply scan the certificate’s QR code using their iPhone running the upcoming update.
Apple Pay Using Face ID With Mask On
With the iPhone’s ability to use Face ID with a mask on, users will also be able to use Apple Pay using Face ID with a mask on. Your Apple Pay transactions will be authenticated while wearing the mask, a pretty handy feature that will debut with the launch of iOS 15.4.
Finally! Universal Control in iPadOS 15.4
Not only iPadOS 15.4 but macOS Monterey 12.3 is also getting support for Universal Control. The feature has been in the works for a while and the company is finally rolling it out to the public with iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3. With the feature enabled, you can use the iPadOS 15.4 running iPad and macOS Monterey 12.3 running MacBook together. For instance, the MacBook’s trackpad and keyboard can be used with an iPad.
New Apple Card Widget
iOS 15.4 will add a new Apple Card widget in the Today View. The widget can be added to the Home screen so you can always look at a glance.

New “Corner Gestures” section under “Quick Notes” in the Notes app on iPadOS 15.4 You can now choose “Still Frame” or “Poster Art” under Preferences in the TV app. The New Passkey feature will allow users to sign-into websites and apps compatible with a passkey. New DualSense adaptive trigger firmware features. New fifth Siri voice for users in the United States. New AirTags anti-stalking alerts.
These are all the features that Apple will bring forward with the launch of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4. Since both builds rest in the beta phase, for now, developers will dig in to discover more features as we move forward. Moreover, Apple could delay features at will since the final word rests with the company. However, it is very unlikely. We expect iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to launch at the company’s highly anticipated Spring event in the coming months.
